Weather Report - July 5, 2013

Turning Much Wetter into the Weekend!

Looks like the evening fireworks and festivities will go off without a hitch across South Louisiana and SW Mississippi, but you'll be wanting the umbrella by your side for the coming days. Sparked by a broad easterly wave over the Gulf, we're calling for a 50-50 rain chance for Friday afternoon and rain likely for both Saturday and Sunday. Baton Rouge metro area rain totals are likely to run from 1" to 3" (with locally-higher totals) between now and late Sunday, with even higher totals possible closer to the coast. However, the good news is that we are not concerned about significant tropical development .. at least over the next few days. -- Jay Grymes / WAFB Storm Team
