Weather Report - May 24, 2013

A Few Storms Today, Then a Dry Weekend

Can’t rule out a few sct’d t-showers later today as a weak cold front moves through the area. Before the front arrives expect temperatures this afternoon in the upper 80°s to low 90°s. The weather for the weekend will remain dry and mild. Humidity levels will be fairly low allowing for a comfortable feel to the day. Temperatures won’t change too much. Expect morning lows Saturday and Sunday in the low to mid 60°s and daytime highs in the mid to upper 80°s. Memorial Day Monday will be more of the same. Fair skies will be present with similar temperatures as the weekend. The humidity will be returning on Tuesday as southerly flow becomes more abundant. The weather should stay dry Tuesday, but we’ll reintroduce a few iso’d afternoon showers and t-storms starting Wednesday. - Jeff Morrow / WAFB Storm Team

Weather Report - May 22, 2013

Better Rain Chances on Wednesday

A cool front located to our north will help to produce a better chance of rainfall over the next 24 hours. In fact, a few showers and t-storms can't be ruled out overnight into Wednesday morning. However, we think best rain chances will come Wednesday afternoon, with about half of the area getting wet at some point. Outside of rain areas, highs could still reach the upper 80°s to near 90°. The cool front now looks like it may slip to our south by the end of the week, providing some relief from our hot and humid days. While weekend temps may still reach the mid to upper 80°s, somewhat lower humidity should make the warmth much more tolerable. At this point, it looks like the Memorial Day weekend (including Memorial Day) should remain dry. - Jay Grymes & Steve Caparotta / WAFB Storm Team

Weather Report - May 21, 2013

Staying Hot & Humid, A Few Showers Tuesday

Very warm and humid weather will continue through most of this week. Look for morning starts in the low 70°s and afternoon highs in the upper 80°s to near 90°. A spotty shower or t-storm is possible by Tuesday afternoon, but better rain chances are expected by Wednesday as a disturbance moves in from the north. Headed into the Memorial Day weekend, it looks like we'll be mainly dry, but plan on very warm weather if you have any outdoor plans. - Jay Grymes & Steve Caparotta / WAFB Storm Team

Weather Report - May 20, 2013

Warm and Muggy Work Week Ahead

Not much change in the weather pattern Monday. It’s still expected to be a warm, humid, and breezy day. We’ll start off under mostly cloudy skies with maybe a patch or two of fog. By afternoon skies will have cleared to partly cloudy conditions with highs in the upper 80°s near 90°. The weather will stay dry on Monday, but Tuesday could squeeze out a spotty PM shower as a weak cold front stalls across North Louisiana. Highs Tuesday should reach 90° in Baton Rouge. Some added clouds and rain coverage on Wednesday and Thursday should result in a couple degrees of cooling. Expect sct’d showers and t-storms to develop both days with a slightly higher coverage Wednesday afternoon. Then the weather turns dry for the rest of the work week into the following weekend. The heat will crank back up with many in the local area seeing daytime highs in the low 90°s. - Jeff Morrow / WAFB Storm Team

Weather Report - May 17, 2013

Heat and Humidity Crank Up

There won’t be much relief from the heat and humidity over the next several days. Temperatures will continue to slowly increase today and through the weekend. Highs Friday and into the weekend will stay in the mid to upper 80°s. A spotty shower may be possible for areas around and NE of Baton Rouge today, but a building ridge will keep rain away for the weekend. Conditions will remain very muggy allowing for feels like temperatures Saturday and Sunday to reach the 90°s even though air temperatures may fall just short. If you are planning to be outside for extended periods of time be sure to stay well hydrated. Highs may hit the 90° mark by the start of the work week. High pressure will weaken allowing for an increase in clouds and maybe even a few iso’d to sct’d t-showers during the mid week period. - Jeff Morrow / WAFB Storm Team

Weather Report - May 16, 2013

A Few Showers Possible Thursday & Friday

Low pressure passing well to our north may be enough to trigger a shower or two over the next couple of days, but most of us should remain dry. Otherwise, look for temperatures and humidity levels to climb as we head into the weekend. Highs will reach the upper 80°s for many of us by Friday and remain there through the weekend. Combine that with the increased humidity and we'll have an almost summer-like feel from Friday through Sunday. The good news for any outdoor plans is that we think the weekend should essentially stay dry. Warm and humid weather continues into next week, with a chance of showers returning to the forecast by Tuesday and Wednesday. - Jay Grymes & Steve Caparotta / WAFB Storm Team

Weather Report - May 15. 2013

Great Weather Continues Tuesday

The week is off to a beautiful start and overall our weather looks to stay pretty nice over the next several days. Tuesday gets off to another comfortably cool start in the low 50°s, but afternoon highs will climb into the mid 80°s under mainly sunny skies. We'll see more in the way of cloud cover by Wednesday and Thursday, but at this point, we'll only include a very slight chance of showers in the forecast for Thursday. We should stay mainly dry into the weekend, but our weather will gradually get warmer and more humid, with an almost summer-like feel by Saturday and Sunday. - Jay Grymes & Steve Caparotta / WAFB Storm Team

Weather Report - May 1, 2013

More Rain on the Way

A lingering upper-air disturbance will keep things rather wet over the next couple of days. We don't expect all-day rains, but several periods of showers and t-storms can be expected through late Thursday/early Friday. Clouds and rains always make for somewhat of a tricky temperature forecast, but we'll go with highs in the mid-upper 70°s the next couple of days. A rather potent cool front for early May will pass through the area on Friday morning. It will result in a fairly significant cool-down as highs struggle to get out of the 60°s for most of us. And while significant rains should come to an end Friday morning, clouds and a few showers will likely stay with us much of the day. Sunshine returns for the weekend, but be prepared for cool morning starts, with temps ranging from the upper 40°s to low 50°s. - Jay Grymes & Steve Caparotta
