Cool Weather Continues

Cool weather will continue over the next couple of days as an area of Canadian high pressure settles overhead by Wednesday. Today's highs will only reach the mid-upper 50°s once again despite plenty of sunshine. And with clear skies and light winds on Wednesday morning, a light freeze appears likely for areas near and north of the interstates. We'll see one more chilly morning start in the 30°s on Thursday before temperatures begin to warm as we head into Easter weekend. Highs will climb into the lower 70°s by Thursday afternoon and reach the mid-upper 70°s over the Easter weekend. We've got a 40% rain chance posted for Easter Sunday, with any shower and t-storm activity likely confined mainly to the afternoon and evening hours. - Steve Caparotta / WAFB Storm Team

Weather Report - March 25, 2013

Winter is Back!

The calendar says it's late March, but Mother Nature says we're not quite done with winter just yet! In fact, light freezes will be possible on both Tuesday and Wednesday mornings for areas near and north of the interstates. How unusual is that? Since 1930, Baton Rouge has only recorded 4 freezes after March 25, with the latest occurring on April 13, 1940. Rather cool weather stays with us through the mid part of this week, but we'll finally see temps returning to near-normal levels by Easter weekend. While the workweek should stay dry, a few showers will be possible on both Saturday and Easter Sunday. - Steve Caparotta / WAFB Storm Team

Clouds Increase Today

Clouds will be increasing through the day, but we will stay dry Thursday. Highs will top out once again in the low 70°s. A warming trend will occur as we end the week. Highs will climb into the mid 70°s tomorrow and near 80° on Saturday. A slight chance for rain enters the forecast Friday as our next storm system approaches. Some light rain may hang around for portions of Sunday before skies clear out and temperatures cool down. The weather for the first half of the next work week is looking mighty fine. Weather Report - March

AM Showers on Wednesday

A passing upper-air disturbance will deliver scattered showers to the area on Wednesday morning, with highest rain chances south of I-10. Any rains should come to an end by lunchtime, with sunshine returning for the afternoon. It will be somewhat cooler as highs top out near 70°. The somewhat cooler weather continues into Thursday before a warm front moving inland brings a return of warmer, more humid weather into the weekend. There is still a decent amount of uncertainty in the forecast from Friday into the weekend, but at this point we've got scattered showers and t-storms posted for Friday and Saturday, with any rains ending early Sunday. Stay tuned as we fine-tune the weekend forecast over the next couple of days... - Jay Grymes & Steve Caparotta / WAFB Storm Team

Weather Report - March 19, 2013

Lower Humidity, Nice on Tuesday!

A slight chance of showers will quickly come to an end Monday night as a cool front pushes through the area. Skies may take a while to clear, but we are expecting some sunshine to return by Tuesday morning. Temperatures will be slightly cooler on Tuesday, but the biggest difference will be a lowering of humidity. Clouds and a few showers return to the area on Wednesday with a passing disturbance. It then looks like we'll see decent rain chances Friday into Saturday as another cool front impacts the area. - Jay Grymes & Steve Caparotta / WAFB Storm Team
