Much Quieter, Colder Today
The severe storms that hit portions of the area on Christmas Day are now well to our east, leaving behind much colder weather. Mostly cloudy skies Wednesday morning should give way to sunshine by the afternoon. Despite the sunshine, highs will struggle to reach 50° for many of us. Thursday starts out with a light freeze across much of the area, followed by partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid-upper 50°s. Low pressure develops along the Texas coastline on Friday and heads in our direction, bringing a return of showers and t-storms by late in the day. While we're not expecting anything close to what we saw on Christmas Day, a strong storm or two can't be ruled out. Rains should end well before sunrise on Saturday, with cool conditions returning for the final weekend of 2012. - Steve Caparotta / WAFB Storm Team
