Weather Report - July 30, 2012

Hot, Hotter, Hottest!

**Heat Advisory Until 7:00 PM**

Overall, we've pretty much "turned off" the water faucet and "cranked up" the heat for these last few days in the month of July! Due to a huge ridge of high pressure - controlling our weather - we'll see very little in the way of rainfall and a lot of afternoon temperatures pushing very close to record highs! And, even though our official high for today is forecast to reach 97 degrees (the record, 99 set in 1986); the "feels like" temperature will be more in the range of 108 degrees (or higher) for at least three hours! As a result, the National Weather Service has placed virtually our entire state (and southern Mississippi) under a "heat advisory" until 7:00 PM. Rain coverage will be rather limited, too through Wednesday (20% or less), a bit more favorable Thursday, at 40%! - Diane Deaton, WAFB Storm Team

NOTE:   Latest news from the NWS is that any thunderstorms this afternoon may be a little strong!
