The rain will become more widespread Monday, Monday night, and Tuesday. The rain will begin to diminish from west to east Tuesday night into early Wednesday. Colder temperatures will wait to filter into the region in the wake of the rain from Wednesday night into Thursday as surface high pressure builds south across the central and southern parts of the country. Total rainfall amounts of an inch and a half to in excess of three inches will be possible from this weekend through midweek next week. Given the wet grounds from widespread rains that fell throughout December, minor flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas will be possible.
