Temperatures: Today: 69/42, Friday: 67/44, Saturday: 74/53, Sunday: 77/58, Monday: 78/60.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER:  A small craft advisory will be in effect this afternoon for the coastal waters west of the mouth of the Mississippi river. The advisory will be in effect overnight for all coastal waters with the exception of the tidal lakes and Mississippi sound. Over the tidal lakes and Mississippi sound, small craft will need to exercise caution this afternoon and tonight.

A cold front will move through the coastal waters this morning. Cold air behind the front will cause winds to increase to 25 to 30 mph over the coastal waters with waves as high as 5 to 7 feet over the outer waters. Winds and seas should gradually subside Friday morning.

SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA: Today through Saturday will be sunny to partly sunny during the day and clear to cloudy in the evenings.  Sunday and Monday is forecasted to have a 20 percent chance of isolated showers.
Temperatures: Today: 65/40, Friday: 68/44, Saturday: 73/58, Sunday: 77/60, Monday: 79/62.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER:  An elevated fire threat can be expected today. Sharply drier air filtering over the region will bring relative humidity values down into the 30’s. Winds of 15 to 20 mph will be common with higher gusts. Some shower activity accompanying the frontal passage this morning will help to mitigate the threat.

Winds will be significantly lower for Friday and into the coming week. A moistening southerly flow will become established Sunday, ahead of our next frontal passage anticipated Tuesday or Wednesday.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER:  Thunderstorms will begin to edge back in from the northwest as early as Sunday into Monday as a lead upper disturbance moves by to the north. Then we are expecting much greater coverage of thunderstorms area-wide for Tuesday and Tuesday night as our next cold front and its associated upper level system will be even stronger. Considering the timing with peak afternoon heating, some of these storms could have the potential to become strong to severe.
