LOUISIANA WEATHER - November 29, 2011

A reinforcing surge of cold air will bring the coldest temperatures of the season thus far to portions of the area.  Temperatures are forecast to drop into the upper 20’s across areas that are generally along and northeast from New Roads to Hammond to Slidell. A few rural locations may see a couple hours of temperatures near or slightly below 26 degrees.

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are forecast to return to the area on Sunday, ahead of an approaching cold front. Severe weather is not anticipated at this time, but the thunderstorm threat will continue to be evaluated over the next few days.

 

SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA:  Today will be sunny with a west wind between 10 to 15 mph and mostly clear at night.  Wednesday through Friday will be sunny during the day and mostly clear at night.  Saturday will be mostly sunny during the day and mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers at night.    
Temperatures:  Today: 60/34, Wednesday: 59/30, Thursday: 62/41, Friday: 65/40, Saturday: 68/56
HAZARDOUS WEATHER:  Strong offshore winds will gradually ease across the Gulf waters today.  Exercise caution headlines, will remain in effect for portions of the coastal waters until winds ease below 15 mph this afternoon.
 
SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA:  Today will be sunny with a northwest wind between 5 to 15 mph and partly cloudy at night.  Wednesday through Friday will be sunny during the day and mostly clear at night.
Temperatures:  Today: 65/37, Wednesday: 60/36, Thursday: 65/40, Friday: 65/45, Saturday: 68/53
HAZARDOUS WEATHER:  No hazardous weather is projected at this time.

 

CENTRAL LOUISIANA: Today will be sunny with a northwest wind between 5 to 10 mph and partly cloudy at night.  Wednesday through Friday will be sunny during the day and mostly cloudy at night.  Saturday will be partly sunny with a 20 percent chance of showers throughout the day and mostly cloudy at night.  
Temperatures:  Today: 62/33, Wednesday: 58/31, Thursday: 62/37, Friday: 63/40, Saturday: 66/53
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: No hazardous weather is projected at this time.
 
NORTHERN LOUISIANA:  Today will be sunny with a northwest wind between 10 to 20 mph and partly cloudy at night.  Wednesday through Friday will be sunny during the day and mostly clear at night.  Saturday will be partly sunny with a 30 percent chance of showers during the day and mostly cloudy with an increase to 50 percent at night.  
Temperatures:  Today: 57/33, Wednesday: 55/32, Thursday: 60/37, Friday: 60/38, Saturday: 61/46
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: No hazardous weather is projected at this time.
