LOUISIANA WEATHER - October 10, 2011

SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA: Today thought Wednesday will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny during the day and partly cloudy at night. Thursday has a 20 percent chance for showers during the day improving to mostly clear at night. Friday will be sunny during the day and clear at night. 
Temperatures: Today: 84/64, Tuesday: 83/65, Wednesday: 87/65, Thursday: 86/59, Friday: 84/54.
Hazardous Weather:  The main hazards remain confined to marine interests. East winds 15 to 25 knots with higher gusts will maintain a small craft advisory for the coastal and offshore waters through this afternoon. In the coastal and offshore waters, seas are forecast to reach the 5 to 8 foot range.

 

A coastal flood statement has been issued for tides running 1 to 2 feet above normal mainly along east facing shores of Orleans, St. Bernard and Plaquemines Parishes. Locations such as Shell Beach could approach 2.5 feet above normal tide predictions allowing water to threaten low spots on Highway 11 around Irish Bayou. Water levels are expected to recede as wind speeds decrease and wind direction becomes more northerly later this afternoon and tonight. Isolated showers or thunderstorms are possible this afternoon mainly over the Mississippi coast and coastal areas.

 

Isolated showers or thunderstorms are possible mainly on Wednesday night and Thursday morning. A cold front is expected to push through the area during this time. Otherwise, hazardous weather is not anticipated Monday through Saturday.

 
SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA: Today through Wednesday will be mostly sunny during the day and partly cloudy at night. Thursday has a 20 percent chance for showers during the day becoming mostly clear at night. Friday will be sunny during the day and mostly clear at night.
Temperatures: Today: 85/62, Tuesday: 88/63, Wednesday: 88/65, Thursday: 89/56, Friday: 84/54.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER:  No hazardous weather to report
 
CENTRAL LOUISIANA: Today through Wednesday will be mostly sunny during the day and partly cloudy each night except for Wednesday night which has a 20 percent chance for showers. Thursday has a 20 percent chance for showers during the day improving to mostly clear at night. Friday will be sunny during the day and mostly clear at night.
Temperatures: Today: 85/61, Tuesday: 88/61, Wednesday: 90/64, Thursday: 87/54, Friday: 86/54.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER:  No hazardous weather to report
 
NORTHERN LOUISIANA: Today will be mostly cloudy during the day and partly cloudy at night. Tuesday will be mostly sunny during the day with a 20 percent chance for thunderstorms at night. Wednesday has a 20 percent chance for thunderstorms throughout the day. Thursday and Friday will be mostly sunny to sunny during the day and mostly clear at night.
Temperatures: Today: 83/62, Tuesday: 87/62, Wednesday: 86/60, Thursday: 85/53, Friday: 83/52.
Hazardous Weather:   An upper level trough will continue to generate rain and showers across the western half of the area today. Rain will generally be light therefore severe weather is not anticipated at this time.

 

The chance for showers and thunderstorms will return to the region in the middle of the work week ahead of an approaching cold front. However no hazardous weather is expected at this time.
