LOUISIANA WEATHER - September 27, 2011

SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA: Today is sunny during the day with a 20 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms at night continuing on into Wednesday. Thursday through Saturday are forecasted to be sunny to mostly sunny during the day and clear in the evenings.
Temperatures: Today: 90/72, Wednesday: 90/70, Thursday: 88/65, Friday: 88/58, Saturday: 81/58.
Hazardous Weather:  There is a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and early evening, some of which may become strong to marginally severe. The primary threats will be wind gusts 45 to 55 mph and penny to quarter sized hail from the more organized storms. The main period of highest impacts should be between 3 pm and 8 pm with activity dissipating over land areas shortly after sunset. General movement of any storms will be from the north initially but may become erratic as outflow boundaries interact with each other and with lake and gulf breezes.

 

Scattered thunderstorms are possible Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Severe thunderstorms are not expected, however a few storms could produce gusty winds, cloud to ground lightning and brief heavy rainfall. A small craft advisory due to strong northerly winds is possible behind a cold front starting Friday night and lasting through the weekend.

 
SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA: Today is mostly sunny during the day and partly cloudy at night. Wednesday and Thursday has a 20-30 percent chance of thunderstorms throughout the day. Mostly sunny skies are forecasted to return on Friday and Saturday.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER:  No hazardous weather to report
 
CENTRAL LOUISIANA: Today through Thursday has 20-30 percent chance of thunderstorms throughout the day.  Friday and Saturday is forecasted to be mostly sunny and mostly clear.
Temperatures: Today: 93/72, Wednesday: 92/68, Thursday: 92/63, Friday: 87/55, Saturday: 81/53.
 
HAZARDOUS WEATHER:  No hazardous weather to report
 
NORTHERN LOUISIANA: Today and Wednesday has a 20-30 percent chance of thunderstorms throughout the day. Thursday will be mostly sunny and hot with partly cloudy evening skies. Friday and Saturday are forecasted to be mostly sunny and mostly clear.
Temperatures: Today: 91/65, Wednesday: 90/62, Thursday: 95/64, Friday: 85/54, Saturday: 79/53.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER:  A frontal boundary will serve as a focus for isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms today. Most of the activity should be confined to areas along and south of the Interstate 20 corridor, although a few storms may develop further to the south across the area.  Strong gusty winds, brief heavy downpours, frequent lightning and small hail will be possible with any storms that develop.
