SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA: There is a 30 percent chance for daytime thunderstorms today decreasing to 20 percent on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and only a slight chance for thunderstorms on Friday. Tonight through Friday night will be partly cloudy.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will result in heat indices around 105 degrees, locally higher at times, through the early to mid afternoon hours. The development of scattered showers and thunderstorms and associated cloud cover should cause temperatures to fall in most locations as the afternoon progresses.
Widespread severe weather is not expected but a few thunderstorms could produce frequent lightning, strong gusty winds and brief periods of locally heavy rainfall.

SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA: There is a 10 percent chance for thunderstorms during the day today turning to partly cloudy tonight. Tuesday through Friday will be sunny and hot during the day and partly cloudy at night.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Hot conditions will continue with air temperatures in the mid 90s along the I-10 corridor to upper 90s further north. When combined with the relative humidity, the heat index or apparent temperature will be between 102 and 107 degrees with higher values in isolated locations. These near dangerous heat index readings will occur between 10 am and 6 pm. Precautions should be made to delay any strenuous outdoor activities to before or after these hours. Also, drink plenty of liquids, wear light colored clothing and try to stay inside air condition locations.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: A heat advisory remains in effect through Tuesday afternoon with high temperatures ranging from around 100 to near 105, yielding heat index values between 105 and 110 degrees. Precautions should be taken to protect against heat related illnesses resulting from outdoor exposure or inadequately cooled buildings.
Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms may provide temporary relief to the continued hot conditions through the remainder of the week.
