SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA: Today will be mostly sunny and clear. Friday through Monday can expect a 20-30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms each day.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: An excessive heat warning is in effect for all of southeast Louisiana through Friday. Peak heat index readings of 107 to 114 are expected across the area this afternoon with overnight lows around 80 degrees. In addition, overnight lows will struggle to drop below 80 degrees in many locations providing little relief from the oppressive heat.
Isolated thunderstorms will return to the area Friday with scattered thunderstorms expected Saturday through Monday. Widespread severe weather is not expected...but a few storms could produce frequent lightning, strong gusty winds and brief periods of locally heavy rainfall.

NORTHERN LOUISIANA: Today will be mostly sunny and hot with partly cloudy evening skies. Friday has a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms throughout the day. Saturday will be mostly sunny and hot and partly cloudy in the evening. A 20 percent chance of thunderstorms returns on Sunday and Monday.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: An excessive heat warning is in effect for today. Temperatures will range from 103 to 110 degrees, with heat index values reaching into the 110 to 118 degree range.
Little if any rain will occur during the next few days, as the upper ridge remains parked directly over the four state region. As a result, high temperatures will continue to soar well above 100 degrees across the region. Precautions to protect against the heat will be needed into the weekend and perhaps beyond.
