SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA: Today through Sunday has a 20-30 percent chance for thunderstorms throughout the day each day with some evenings having partly cloudy skies.
Temperatures: Today: 97/76, Thursday: 97/76, Friday: 96/75, Saturday: 96/75, Sunday: 94/75.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: There is a better chance of thunderstorms today as an upper level disturbance moves south into the area. A few of the thunderstorms may produce wind gusts near 40 mph along with frequent lightning strikes and brief heavy rainfall.
Isolated thunderstorms are expected Thursday into Friday; however, the thunderstorms could become more numerous at times in a few areas. A few of the late afternoon and evening thunderstorms could become strong to locally severe with the main threats being strong wind gusts and frequent lightning. Little or no thunderstorm activity is expected over the weekend. There will be a better chance of thunderstorms again Monday into Tuesday as another weak frontal system approaches the area.
Continued hot temperatures combined with the higher humidity will produce heat index readings near 105 degrees each afternoon.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: With high temperatures in the upper 90’s to lower 100’s and afternoon humidity values of 30 to 40 percent, heat index values across central Louisiana will range from 101 to 107 degrees this afternoon. The most dangerous readings will be between 2 pm and 5 pm, around the time of high temperatures.
Hot days will continue through the week with heat indices well over 100 across many locations away from the coast. Rain chances will be slim at best, with shower and storm development expected mainly from mid-day through early evening. Severe storms are not expected.
