LOUISIANA WEATHER - August 15, 2011

SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA: Today will be sunny and hot with partly cloudy evening skies. Tuesday through Thursday will be mostly sunny during the day and partly cloudy at night. Friday has a 20 percent slight chance for daytime thunderstorms and cloudy at night.                                            
 
Temperatures: Today: 97/76, Tuesday: 95/76, Wednesday: 95/77, Thursday: 95/77, Friday: 94/77.
 
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Heat indices today will range from 102 to 107, with higher values in isolated locations and will continue through the week. The most dangerous readings will be between 11 am and 6 pm.
 
SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA: Today through Wednesday will be hot and sunny during the day and mostly clear to partly cloudy in the evenings. Thursday and Friday has a slight chance for thunderstorms throughout the day and night.
Temperatures: Today: 95/69, Tuesday: 96/71, Wednesday: 97/74, Thursday: 95/74, Friday: 93/74.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Isolated thunderstorms will continue across portions of the coastal waters, mainly well offshore from the south Louisiana coast today. Otherwise, no weather hazards are expected through tonight.

 

Drier air behind a cold front will keep thunderstorms out of the forecast through Wednesday. A gradual return to more typical August humidity will bring a slight chance of thunderstorms again Thursday through Sunday.

 
CENTRAL LOUISIANA: Today through Wednesday will be hot and sunny during the day and partly cloudy in the evenings. Thursday and Friday has a slight chance for thunderstorms throughout the day and night.
Temperatures: Today: 100/71, Tuesday: 97/73, Wednesday: 98/74, Thursday: 98/74, Friday: 96/75.

NORTHERN LOUISIANA: Today through Wednesday will be hot and sunny during the day and cloudy during most evenings. Wednesday night through Friday has a 20 percent slight chance for thunderstorms throughout the day.
Temperatures: Today: 101/72, Tuesday: 100/72, Wednesday: 101/74, Thursday: 99/74, Friday: 99/75.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Isolated thunderstorms will be possible for some locations today and tonight along and near a nearly stationary boundary that will lift north. Strong and gusty winds will be possible in and near thunderstorms. 

 

Temperatures will climb to near or slightly above 100 degrees today and for much of the rest of the week into the weekend, with heat index values ranging from near 100 to 105 degrees with brief and isolated higher readings.
