LOUISIANA WEATHER - August 12, 2011

SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA: Today will be sunny to mostly sunny during the day and mostly clear at night. Saturday has a 20 percent chance for daytime thunderstorms improving to mostly clear at night. Sunday has a slight chance for scattered, isolated thunderstorms throughout the day and night.                                                                       

Temperatures: Today: Saturday: 91/78, Sunday: 94/76
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will result in heat indices of 105 to 110 in many areas today. A heat advisory is in effect for southeast Louisiana, the tidal lakes, sounds and near-shore waters. Very isolated thunderstorms are possible today. Strong and severe thunderstorms are not expected.

SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA: This afternoon has 20 percent chance for showers decreasing to 10 percent tonight. Saturday will be hot and sunny during the day and partly cloudy at night. Sunday has a 20 percent chance for thunderstorms throughout the day and night.                                                                                                                           

Temperatures: Today: 97/78, Saturday: 98/77, Sunday: 95/76
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Hot conditions will continue with air temperatures in the middle to upper 90s along the I-10 corridor and around 100 north of the I-10 corridor. When combined with relative humidity, the heat index, or apparent temperature, will be between 105 and 115 degrees.

CENTRAL LOUISIANA: Today will be hot and sunny during the day and partly to mostly cloudy at night. Saturday has a 20 percent chance for daytime thunderstorms improving to partly cloudy at night. Sunday has a 20 percent chance for thunderstorms throughout the day and night.                                                                                             

Temperatures: Today: 100/78, Saturday: 99/77, Sunday: 96/76.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Hot conditions will continue with air temperatures in the middle to upper 90s along the I-10 corridor and around 100 north of the I-10 corridor. When combined with relative humidity, the heat index, or apparent temperature, will be between 105 and 115 degrees.

NORTHERN LOUISIANA: Today through Sunday has a 20 percent chance for thunderstorms throughout the day and night.                                                                                            

Temperatures: Today: 101/77, Saturday: 99/77, Sunday: 97/72.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: A few isolated storms may become severe, and strong damaging winds will be the primary threat with any storms that develop.
