LOUISIANA WEATHER - June 6, 2011

SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA: Today through Friday will be mostly sunny during the day and hot with a 20-30 percent chance for isolated and scattered thunderstorms throughout the day each day.
Temperatures: Today: 98/73, Tuesday: 98/73, Wednesday: 93/72, Thursday: 92/72, Friday: 91/72.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Hot conditions will continue today with heat index readings in the 100 to 105 degree range. Even though this range does not require a heat advisory, caution is strongly suggested. There is a slight chance of thunderstorms today, mainly during the afternoon and early evening. Organized severe weather is not expected, but a few thunderstorms will have the potential to become severe. An ozone action day is in effect for the Baton Rouge area through midnight tonight.

Hot conditions will continue through Tuesday with heat index readings near 105 degrees possible during the afternoon. A better chance of thunderstorms can be expected Tuesday afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms that develop will have the potential to become severe. The main threat will be damaging winds and small hail.

SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA:
Today through Friday will be mostly sunny during the day and hot with a 20-30 percent chance for thunderstorms in the afternoons and on into the evenings.
Temperatures: Today: 100/76, Tuesday: 96/73, Wednesday: 93/73, Thursday: 92/73, Friday: 92/71.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and continue into the evening. Stronger storms will have the potential for damaging winds and small hail. Near record high temperatures in the upper 90s to near 100 are expected again today. Combined with the humidity, apparent temperatures will range from 100 to 105 degrees during peak heating. Elevated fire danger will continue throughout the week due to very dry ground fuels and low daytime relative humidity values.

Isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop again on Tuesday afternoon and continue on into evening. Stronger storms will have the potential for damaging winds and small hail. More isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected from Wednesday into the weekend.

CENTRAL LOUISIANA: Today through Friday will be mostly sunny during the day and hot with a 20-30 percent chance for thunderstorms in the afternoons and on into the evenings.
Temperatures: Today: 100/72, Tuesday: 98/72, Wednesday: 95/72, Thursday: 93/71, Friday: 93/70.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and continue into the evening. NORTHERN LOUISIANA: Today through Friday will be mostly sunny during the day and hot with a 20 percent chance for thunderstorms throughout the day each day.
Temperatures: Today: 99/72, Tuesday: 97/71, Wednesday: 95/71, Thursday: 95/71, Friday: 94/70.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Isolated thunderstorms will be possible across the four-state region this afternoon and evening. Areas mainly south of the I-20 corridor will see the better chances for rain. A few of these thunderstorms may become severe, producing damaging winds as they dissipate. Isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop during the afternoon and evening hours each day.
