SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA: Today through Saturday will have a 20-40 percent chance for isolated and scattered thunderstorms throughout the day, each day.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms over portions of the coastal areas and coastal waters are expected to develop inland through the day, leading to scattered coverage of showers and thunderstorms over most land areas in the afternoon. A few thunderstorms may become strong to severe with the main threats being strong, possibly damaging wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph along with frequent lightning strikes. Locally heavy rainfall could lead to brief ponding of water in low lying areas.
Thunderstorms are expected to become more isolated Thursday through Sunday. A few strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible Thursday, mainly during the afternoon and early evening hours, with the main threats being strong winds and frequent lightning. The chance of thunderstorms may increase slightly on Independence Day and Tuesday.
Heat indices are expected to reach 100 to 105 degrees at times during the midday and afternoon hours each day.

NORTHERN LOUISIANA: Today has a 20 percent chance for thunderstorms during the day and partly cloudy in the evening. Thursday through Sunday is forecast to be hot and clear during the day and partly cloudy in the evenings, each day.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorm activity will possible again this afternoon across the area. Although no widespread severe activity is expected, isolated severe activity will remain possible. Thunderstorms may produce gusty winds, coin size hail and deadly cloud to ground lightning. Hot temperatures and moisture will also remain a concern for today, as the combination will produce very warm heat index readings during the afternoon and will continue through tomorrow, with the heat index temperature near 105 in the afternoon.
