LOUISIANA WEATHER - May 25, 2011

SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA: Today will be mostly sunny during the day with the evening on into Thursday having a 20-30 percent slight chance of thunderstorms. Sunny skies are forecast to return on Friday through Sunday.
Temperatures: Today: 94/73, Thursday: 89/70, Friday: 88/70, Saturday: 90/70, Sunday: 90/71.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: There is a chance of thunderstorms across southwest Mississippi and northern parts of the Florida parishes late tonight as a cold front approaches the outlook area. Although severe storms are not anticipated, a strong thunderstorm or two is possible with strong winds across extreme southwest Mississippi and northern parts of the Florida parishes late tonight into Thursday morning.

There is a chance of thunderstorms Thursday and on into the evening as a cold front pushes into the southeast Louisiana and part of the southeast Louisiana and then stall over the area.
Flood warnings will remain in effect for the Mississippi River and for several points along the Atchafalaya River.

SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA:
Today through Sunday will be sunny during the day with clear to cloudy evening skies.
Temperatures: Today: 91/76, Thursday: 89/67, Friday: 89/71, Saturday: 89/74, Sunday: 88/74.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Moderate southerly winds are expected today, but the sustained speeds are expected to remain below the threshold for a wind advisory. Rain chances will increase this evening as a traveling cold front slows to halt near the I-10 corridor.

CENTRAL LOUISIANA: Today has a 20-30 percent slight chance of scattered thunderstorms throughout the day. Sunny skies are forecast to return Thursday through Sunday.
Temperatures: Today: 93/69, Thursday: 88/61, Friday: 92/70, Saturday: 89/71, Sunday: 92/72.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Moderate southerly winds are expected today, but the sustained speeds are expected to remain below the threshold for a wind advisory. Rain chances will increase this evening as a traveling cold front slows to halt near the I-10 corridor.

NORTHERN LOUISIANA: Today has a 30-40 percent chance of thunderstorms throughout the day. Thursday and Friday will be mostly sunny and cloudy in the evenings. Saturday has a 20 percent slight chance of thunderstorms throughout the day. Sunday is forecasted to be partly sunny and mostly cloudy in the evening.
Temperatures: Today: 92/65, Thursday: 83/61, Friday: 89/68, Saturday: 90/69, Sunday: 90/70.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: The potential for severe thunderstorms exist today across deep east Texas, northern Louisiana and southern Arkansas. A warm and moist atmosphere will combine with daytime heating and make conditions ripe for thunderstorm development as a cold front approaches this afternoon and evening.

As a result, a slight risk outlook area covers the area generally to the south and east of the I30 corridor and severe thunderstorm activity will be possible this afternoon and evening. Isolated tornadoes, damaging straight line winds and hail are all on the table if storms become severe.
