SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA: Today there is a 30 percent chance for thunderstorms throughout the day. Tuesday and Wednesday will be sunny during the day and mostly clear to mostly cloudy at night. Thursday and Friday have a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: A cold front will push into the region today. There is a slight risk of isolated severe thunderstorms developing ahead of this front, mainly to the north of the Interstate 10 corridor. However, most of the thunderstorm activity will remain below severe limits. Locally gusty winds and lightning strikes will be the primary threat from these thunderstorms.
Small craft should exercise caution across all coastal waters and tidal lakes today and early evening.
The Mississippi River at Red River Landing is currently at 48.83feet (minor flood stage) and falling. Minor flood stage is from 48 to 55 feet. The river is expected to fall to below flood stage by Tuesday.
POTENTIAL IMPACT: Between 48 feet, access roads will be inundated and evacuation of all River Islands must be complete. Protection of people and property in the river bottom land on the river side of the levees must be complete.
SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA: Today there is a 20 percent chance for thunderstorms and clear skies in the evening. Tuesday and Wednesday will be sunny during the day and clear to partly cloudy at night. Thursday and Friday have a 10-20 percent chance of thunderstorms.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: A cold front will cross the area from northwest to southeast today. There will be a few thunderstorms associated with this front with most of the rain in central Louisiana. Any severe thunderstorms should stay to the north of the area.
The Atchafalaya River at Morgan City is currently at 5.37 feet (minor flood stage). Minor flood stage is 4 to 7 feet. The river is expected remain at this level over the next few days.
POTENTIAL IMPACT: At 5 feet, floodwall gates should be closed by the 5 foot stage to protect against higher stages. Vessel traffic will be affected by stronger river current and vessel traffic safety rules will be strictly enforced by the U. S. Coast Guard. The impact on river side industry will lessen as the river begins to recede.
CENTRAL LOUISIANA: Today during the day there is a 30 percent chance for thunderstorms and clear skies in the evening. Tuesday and Wednesday will be sunny during the day and clear to partly cloudy at night. Thursday and Friday have a 10-20 percent chance of thunderstorms.

NORTHERN LOUISIANA: Today during the day there is a 70 percent chance for thunderstorms and clear skies in the evening. Tuesday and Wednesday will be sunny during the day and mostly clear to partly cloudy at night. Thursday has a 20-30 percent chance of thunderstorms throughout the day. Friday is forecast to be mostly cloudy throughout the day.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Showers and thunderstorms are ahead of a cold front, that will continue pushing east across the region today. There is a chance of some thunderstorms becoming severe later this morning, with the most significant threat being large hail and damaging winds. The threat of severe weather is forecast to diminish from west to east by this afternoon.
