STATE WIDE EVENTS:
Burn Ban for Sabine Parish
A fire hazard is present due to the impending impact of extreme drought conditions, therefore - A Fire Ban has been issued for the entire parish of Sabine, prohibiting all outside burning (Garbage, grass, leaves, brush, etc.)
SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA: Today and Saturday will be mostly sunny during the day with cloudy skies in the evenings. Sunday through Tuesday is forecast to have a 20 percent slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Temperatures: Today: 81/65, Saturday: 83/67, Sunday: 82/60, Monday: 74/65, Tuesday: 81/63.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Isolated strong thunderstorms will be possible Sunday through Tuesday. An organized severe weather episode is possible Wednesday through Thursday. Weather hazards associated with this event will be tornadic activity, damaging thunderstorm winds and heavy rainfall. Even though large hail will be possible, it would be isolated and should not be the major severe weather theme. Timing and placement of this scenario will continue to be refined over the next several days.
The Pearl River at Bogalusa is currently at 19.05 feet (minor flood stage). Minor flood stage is 18 to 21 feet. The river is expected to recede below flood stage by tomorrow.
POTENTIAL IMPACT: Between 20 to 21 feet, woodlands and crop acreage along the river may be flooded. The Bogue Chitto Wildlife Management Area may be inundated with water in recreational camps and over access roads. At 21 feet property east of Louisiana Highway 21 along Bogalusa creek will begin to flood.
The Pearl River near Pearl River is currently at 14.84 feet (minor flood stage). Minor flood stage is 14 to 17 feet. The river is expected to recede below flood stage by tomorrow. POTENTIAL IMPACT: At 15.5 feet, secondary roads to the river and throughout Honey Island Swamp are inundated. Property in the vicinity of the gage is flooded threatening about 20 homes along the left bank. The Bogue Chitto National Wildlife refuge will be closed to hunting at the 15.5 foot stage.
The Mississippi River at Red River Landing is currently at 49.81 feet (minor flood stage). Minor flood stage is 48 to 55 feet. The river is expected to rise to 50.7 on Monday. POTENTIAL IMPACT: At 48 feet, access roads will be inundated and evacuation of all river islands must be complete. Protection of people and property in the river bottom land on the river side of the levees must be complete.
SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA: Today and tomorrow will be partly sunny during the day with mostly cloudy skies in the evenings. Sunday has a 20 percent chance of showers throughout the day. Monday will be partly cloudy throughout the day. Tuesday is forecast to have a 30 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms.
Temperatures: Today: 82/68, Saturday: 82/67, Sunday: 79/62, Monday: 78/67, Tuesday: 83/67.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: No hazardous weather is reported at this time
The Atchafalaya River at Morgan City is currently at 4.98 feet (minor flood stage). Minor flood stage is 4 to 7 feet. The river is expected to rise to 5.5 feet by Monday.
POTENTIAL IMPACT: At 4 to 5 feet, water will move up the bank and across access roads below the city dock. Floodwall gates should be closed by the 5 foot stage to protect against higher stages. Vessel traffic will be affected by stronger river current and vessel traffic safety rules will be strictly enforced by the U. S. Coast Guard. The impact on river side industry will lessen as the river begins to recede.
CENTRAL LOUISIANA: Today and tomorrow will be cloudy during the day. Saturday evening into Sunday has a 20 percent chance of showers. Monday will be partly cloudy throughout the day. Tuesday is forecast to have a 30 percent slight chance of thunderstorms.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: No hazardous weather is reported at this time.
NORTHERN LOUISIANA: Today and tomorrow will be mostly sunny during the day. Saturday evening into Sunday has a 20 percent chance of showers. Monday will be partly cloudy throughout the day. Tuesday is forecast to have a 20 percent slight chance of thunderstorms.
Temperatures: Today: 82/64, Saturday: 86/55, Sunday: 71/50, Monday: 73/58, Tuesday: 79/56.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible tonight along and north of a line from Winnsboro Texas to Monroe Louisiana. Large hail, damaging winds and cloud to ground lightning will be the primary threats.
