SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA: Today through Saturday will be mostly to partly sunny during the day with clear to cloudy skies in the evening. Saturday evening into Sunday is forecast to have a 20 percent slight chance of thunderstorms.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Thunderstorms are expected to develop across the area late this weekend into early next week. A few storms could be strong Monday night.
The Pearl River at Bogalusa is currently at 20.25 feet (minor flood stage). Minor flood stage is 18 to 21 feet. The river is expected to recede below flood stage by Saturday.
POTENTIAL IMPACT: Between 20 to 21 feet, woodlands and crop acreage along the river may be flooded. The Bogue Chitto Wildlife Management Area may be inundated with water in recreational camps and over access roads. At 21 feet property east of Louisiana Highway 21 along Bogalusa creek will begin to flood.
The Pearl River near Pearl River is currently at 15.27 feet (minor flood stage). Minor flood stage is 14 to 17 feet. The river is expected to maintain this level through Friday, then recede below flood stage by Saturday. POTENTIAL IMPACT: At 15.5 feet, secondary roads to the river and throughout Honey Island Swamp are inundated. Property in the vicinity of the gage is flooded threatening about 20 homes along the left bank. The Bogue Chitto National Wildlife refuge will be closed to hunting at the 15.5 foot stage.
The Mississippi River at Red River Landing is currently at 49.16 feet (minor flood stage). Minor flood stage is 48 to 55 feet. The river is expected to rise to 49.9 on Saturday. POTENTIAL IMPACT: At 48 feet, access roads will be inundated and evacuation of all river islands must be complete. Protection of people and property in the river bottom land on the river side of the levees must be complete.

The Atchafalaya River at Morgan City is currently at 4.98 feet (minor flood stage). Minor flood stage is 4 to 7 feet. The river is expected to rise to 5.2 feet by Saturday.
POTENTIAL IMPACT: At 4 feet, water will move up the bank and across access roads below the city dock. Floodwall gates should be closed by the 5 foot stage to protect against higher stages. Vessel traffic will be affected by stronger river current and vessel traffic safety rules will be strictly enforced by the U. S. Coast Guard. The impact on river side industry will lessen as the river begins to recede.
CENTRAL LOUISIANA: Today through Friday will be partly to mostly sunny and mostly cloudy in the evenings. Saturday and Sunday is forecast to have a 20 percent slight chance of thunderstorms each day.
