SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA: Today has a 70 percent chance of showers with an increase to 100 percent in the evening moving into Tuesday morning. Wednesday through Friday is forecast to be mostly sunny with clear to cloudy skies in the evenings.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: A surface low pressure area developing over the western Gulf of Mexico will gradually move toward the Louisiana coast tonight. Rain will move into southeast Louisiana and south Mississippi by afternoon and continue overnight. One to two inches of rain can be expected through sunrise on Tuesday. Winds will increase over the coastal waters west of the mouth of the Mississippi River this afternoon. A small craft advisory will be in effect through tonight for these areas, as winds increase to near 20 mph and seas increase to 5 to 7 feet offshore.
The low pressure will continue moving eastward along the Louisiana coast on Tuesday. Small craft advisories will likely be necessary across most of the coastal waters Tuesday into Wednesday morning. Winds of 20 to 30 mph will be likely, along with seas as high as 6 to 8 feet, mainly beyond 20 miles offshore. Rain will gradually end from west to east on Wednesday with most areas receiving storm totals of around 2 inches.
SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA: Today has a 90 percent chance of showers throughout the day. Tuesday there is a 30 percent chance of showers with decreasing clouds in the evening. Wednesday through Friday is forecast to be mostly sunny and partly cloudy in the evenings.

NORTHERN LOUISIANA: Today has a 40 percent chance of showers with an increase to 80 percent in the evening. Tuesday there will be a 50 percent chance of showers and mostly cloudy in the evening. Wednesday through Friday is forecast to be mostly sunny with partly cloudy skies in the evening.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Areas of rain will gradually spread north and east across north Louisiana this afternoon. Rainfall amounts of a half an inch to in excess of an inch will be possible through Tuesday across deep north Louisiana. Rain is expected to diminish from west to east Tuesday as this strong upper level disturbance exits the region. Cool and dry conditions are expected throughout the remainder of the forecast period.
