LOUISIANA WEATHER - January 10. 2011

SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA: Today will be mostly cloudy throughout the day. Tuesday through Friday will be mostly sunny with cloudy evening skies.
Temperatures: Today: 47/34, Tuesday: 47/28, Wednesday: 45/28, Thursday: 47/29, Friday: 54/41.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: No weather hazards are expected today. Temperatures will be falling into moderate to hard freeze levels across south Mississippi and upper southeast Louisiana tonight. A light freeze may also occur south of the tidal lakes well away from the influences of the lakes.

A hard freeze is anticipated each night Tuesday night through Friday morning in southern Mississippi and the Louisiana Florida parishes. A light freeze is anticipated in areas south of the tidal lakes for a short duration each night through Friday morning. Small craft advisories may be needed Tuesday night through Wednesday.

SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA: Today will be mostly cloudy throughout the day. Tuesday through Friday will be mostly sunny with cloudy evening skies.
Temperatures: Today: 46/33, Tuesday: 51/28, Wednesday: 47/30, Thursday: 47/32, Friday: 55/44.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Cloudy and cold conditions can be expected today. A cold front will push across the forecast area late tonight with a much drier air mass expected behind it. This will help scatter out the low clouds, which in turn may help lower temperatures to near or just below freezing for areas north of Interstate 10. A very cold Canadian high pressure system will build into the region on Tuesday. Cold conditions with this system are expected to persist through Thursday. The coldest night during this period is expected on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, when a hard freeze will be likely for areas along and north of Interstate 10 and a light freeze all the way to the coast. Another light to hard freeze will be possible on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. However, a thick mid and upper level cloud deck is forecast to develop which will have an effect on just how low the temperatures will be and the difference between a light to hard freeze.

CENTRAL LOUISIANA: Today will be mostly cloudy throughout the day. Tuesday through Friday will be mostly sunny with cloudy evening skies.
Temperatures: Today: 43/32, Tuesday: 47/24, Wednesday: 44/26, Thursday: 47/27, Friday: 53/38.

NORTHERN LOUISIANA: Today has a chance of freezing drizzle and mostly cloudy skies throughout the day. Tuesday through Friday will be mostly sunny with cloudy evening skies.
Temperatures: Today: 37/28, Tuesday: 39/18, Wednesday: 39/19, Thursday: 40/18, Friday: 46/27.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Although the storm system has moved to the east of the area and there is no weather hazard for most of north Louisiana, freezing drizzle will continue to be possible through noon today for the parishes bordering Mississippi. This will cause hazardous driving conditions across the area.

Arctic air high pressure will build south across the region as we go into mid week. High temperatures will struggle to rise above freezing Wednesday and Thursday while lows will fall into the teens.
