HAZARDOUS WEATHER: A powerful upper level storm system forecast to move across Texas and Louisiana the next several days will interact with a warm and humid airmass in place to bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to the entire area from Friday into Saturday. Due to the strength of this storm system, severe thunderstorms appear possible over a long period of time from Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon. Large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are all possible with any severe thunderstorms that develop during this time.
The Atchafalya River at Morgan City is currently at 4.69 feet (Minor flood stage). Minor flood stage is from 4 to 7 feet. The river is expected to recede over the next few days. At 4 to 5 feet, water may move up the bank and across access roads below the city dock.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER: Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected across the region Friday and Saturday as low pressure moves across the middle Mississippi and Ohio River valleys. The threat for severe weather will be somewhat limited Friday afternoon and evening, with a greater threat during Saturday morning and afternoon. Damaging wind, hail and isolated tornadoes will be possible with any severe weather that occurs. As the cold front approaches Friday, southerly winds will increase over the tidal lakes and coastal waters. Small craft advisories will likely be necessary by Friday afternoon or evening and continue through much of Saturday. The Atchafalaya River at Morgan City will remain above flood stage through the weekend.
