HAZARDOUS WEATHER: A low pressure system will move southeast across the area beginning late this afternoon through Saturday morning. The potential exists for rain to mix with light sleet and light snow mainly north of a line from new roads to Kentwood to Bogalusa. The time frame for any frozen precipitation will be from around 3 am to 9 am Saturday. The expected short duration of frozen precipitation and relatively warm ground temperatures should prevent any accumulation. A few area rivers will remain near or above flood stage. Another strong gulf low is expected to move through the northern Gulf of Mexico Monday and Tuesday. The low will bring rainfall to the area on Monday and transition over to a wintry mix of rain, sleet and snow late Monday night into Tuesday morning. It is far too early to determine if any accumulation will occur and the system will continue to be monitored through the weekend. Small craft advisories will be likely Saturday as an area of low pressure draws colder air across the coastal waters. Another round of small craft advisories may be needed from Monday night through Tuesday night as another gulf low affects the coastal waters.
